SBIF Client Feature Story: Almacenes Mexico
Grantee Profile
Almacenes Mexico is a retail clothing store owned and operated by Delfin Delgado. The shop was opened in 1986 and today continues to serve the Humboldt Park community with apparel and accessories for the whole family. Mr. Delgado has completed one SBIF project at his store location and is in the process of completing a second one now.
SBIF Grant Impact (Pulaski Corridor)
In October of 2019, Delgado first applied for the SBIF program.Â
“Because of the SBIF grant we were able to rebuild the facade of the building, install new windows and doors, and repair our roof. SomerCor has been so responsive and very helpful going through this entire process. We even did it twice!”
The scope of work for his completed SBIF project included the complete tear-off and replacement of the existing roof and gutters, masonry restoration and tuck-pointing, power-washing, and the installation of a new aluminum storefront window system.
The work currently underway includes HVAC and electrical work, plumbing upgrades including a new hot water tank, exterior masonry work and foundation water-proofing, six new interior doors, and the replacement of damaged drywall and related finishes.
Almacenes Mexico is open for business!
