McCann Industries Inc. is a family-owned business founded in 1967. It is a market leader in construction equipment and construction supply sales, serving the Chicagoland, northern Indiana, and west Michigan area from 10 locations. McCann sells, services and rents heavy and light construction equipment. They represent more than 400 suppliers and manufacturers, as well as provide equipment, service and repair, and supplies for a wide range of contractors. Primary brands include Case Construction Equipment, Kobelco Excavators and Takeuchi Loaders and Excavators. McCann distributes a wide array of construction materials used in concrete and general construction applications. Their fundamental belief is that contractors and municipalities deserve a trusted supplier who cares about their long-term success as much as the success of the project at hand.
SBA 504 Loan with SomerCor
McCann has been a construction equipment and materials supplier to Lake and McHenry Illinois counties since the mid-seventies. The company services and repairs all of the equipment brands they sell. The opportunity arose to purchase the property next door to their existing facility in Wauconda, IL. McCann used the 504 loan to purchase and renovate the property into an 11,000 square foot Service Center. This Service Center has seven service bays where the company’s technicians service and repair customer equipment as well as the McCann rental fleet in the market. It also allows for the company’s area field technicians to have a regional location to work from.
“The building we built in Wauconda, IL is a critical part of the strategic growth plans we have in place. The project kicked off summer of 2021, a challenging time in the market. There were supply chain disruptions, input cost escalations and then borrowing costs started to shoot up in 2022. We were grateful for the collaboration and assistance between our primary lender, Wintrust, and the SomerCor team,” said Owner and CEO, Jim McCann. “They really made a complex process flow very easily.
