SBIF Client Feature Story: Platt Luggage, Inc
Company Profile
Platt Luggage, Inc. is a fourth generation family business that manufactures high quality professional cases for business and industry. The company offers same day shipment on all standard products. Custom cases can also be quickly produced in their extensive in-house sewing and molding departments. Customization options include foam inserts, colors, pallets, hardware, molded-in logos, nameplates, silk-screening, and embroidery.
SBIF Grant Impact (63rd/Pulaski)
Platt Luggage has grown in size and scope over the last 100 years. When Benjamin Platt started the business in 1921, he turned his experience crafting leather saddle harnesses into creating sturdy suitcases for travel. Current owner, Daniel Platt, continues the company’s tradition of excellence, while embracing innovation with new technologies. As a three time recipient of SBIF grant dollars, Platt made critical improvements to their Archer Heights facility. This work supported their expansion into new materials, production capabilities, and industry partnerships.
The SBIF program has been a huge help in upgrading our aging building. The staff at SomerCor has always been clear, professional and helpful. The grants we received helped ensure that our building will be in great shape for our next 100 years.
The scope of work at Platt Luggage, Inc. includes a roof replacement, new gutters and downspouts, sprinkler system upgrade, new LED lights throughout the facility, and HVAC system improvements.
