Nutrition Services: SomerCor SBA 504 – Agriculture Businesses Feature
Company Profile
Nutrition Services, Inc (NSI) was founded in 2003 when Matt and Andrea Dearwester purchased a Cargill plant on the West side of Carthage, IL to start a commercial swine feed production operation. NSI has a completely computerized milling system that produces strictly swine feed. They have the capability to handle Sal-Curb, a formaldehyde-based anti-microbial feed additive that is used to reduce the salmonella infection of the food chain, which makes NSI stand out in the feed mill industry.
SBA 504 Building Purchase & RenovationÂ
The Dearwester’s also own and operate Dearwester Grain Services, Inc. Between these two entities, there are 11 locations. The SBA 504 loan can be a great fit for agricultural businesses to purchase, expand, and refinance commercial real estate and heavy equipment. SomerCor has partnered with the Dearwester’s on three SBA 504 loans – including the construction of a grain bin elevator and the purchase of land and equipment from a retiring competitor. The most recent project was the construction of a new feed processing mill for NSI. The location includes a 20-acre parcel of land with a 12,600 square foot industrial building. The Dearwester’s built the additional feed mill to meet growing demand, as their other Carthage mill location was already operating at capacity.Â
