Throughout his teaching tenure, Grandmaster Kwang Seek Hyun has trained over 12,000 students and 9,000 law enforcement professionals. He continues to oversee instruction today at Hyun’s Hapkido – with students ranging from five years old to seniors in their 70’s.
SBIF Grant Impact (Addison South)
Grandmaster Hyun worked closely with North Branch Works to apply for a Small Business Improvement Fund (SBIF) grant in the spring of 2022. He received continued technical assistance from the delegate agency throughout the process.Â
The scope of work at Hyun’s Hapkido included roofing repairs, HVAC improvements, masonry work including tuckpointing, and exterior lighting.
“I’m deeply grateful to North Branch Works for reaching out to me about the SBIF program and taking the time to meet with me and explain it in 2022,” said Grandmaster Hyun. “Adding a new air conditioner to our locker room has made the students more comfortable and contributed significantly to a safe and welcoming learning environment.”
“Cultural small businesses like Grandmaster Hyun’s contribute significantly to the neighborhood’s character and make it unique,” said Steve Simmons, the Director of Business and Economic Development at North Branch Works. “The school has become a neighborhood destination where people come together for important cultural exchanges and to learn from each other.”
