Grantee Profile

Pintaito Gourmet is a start-up coffee shop in Portage Park that opened last year. When owner, Luz Hoyos, moved to the area nine years ago, she bought a building she hoped would one day be home to her dream: a Colombian café. Now a reality, the café offers Colombian coffee, arepas, empanadas, cold beverages, and more menu items to come soon. Plus, the shop is currently undergoing an expansion, using additional SBIF funds to increase café space and upgrade the storefront.

SBIF Grant Impact (West Irving Park)

In October of 2019, Hoyos applied for the SBIF program.

“When I heard about the SBIF program, I felt that the opportunity to start building Pintaito Gourmet had finally arrived,” said Hoyos. “With the guidance of SomerCor, I proceeded with my journey to accomplish my dream. The SBIF program really helps entrepreneurs who have a dream and want to succeed.”

The scope of work for this SBIF project included the demolition and installation of a new façade and storefront system, rough carpentry and finishes, HVAC, electrical, and plumbing upgrades, and  architectural and permit fees.

Pintaito Gourmet is under construction and will soon be open again for business!
