SBIF Grant (47th/King TIF) Program Provides Critical Resources

Molly Meyer founded Omni Ecosystems in 2009. Since its launch, the company has outgrown its headquarters multiple times. Meyer utilized an SBA 504 loan to transition from renter to property owner of a 50,000 square foot building in Bronzeville. With the guidance of the Greater Southwest Development Corporation, Meyer also applied for the SBIF grant to support permanent building changes which required demolition, carpentry, concrete work, HVAC/plumbing, masonry improvements, and electrical upgrades.

“SBIF funded extensive masonry work necessary to rebuild the 100-year-old structure’s exterior walls,” said Meyer. “At the time this was an unforeseen expense that could have derailed the project. In that regard SBIF was critical to this adaptive reuse, and an important element in revitalizing the 4100 block of South State Street. This in turn brings us closer to our greater goal of investing in the wellbeing of the Bronzeville neighborhood.”

Recognition for Omni Ecosystems

Omni Ecosystems continues to grow and earn recognition on a national level. In March, Meyer was named the SBA Illinois Small Business Person of the Year and SBA Administrator, Jovita Carranza, toured their new headquarters.

Additionally, Omni Ecosystems counts many high profile projects including the O’Hare Terminal 2 Concourse, Harvard Business School, Chicago’s Wild Mile, McDonald’s corporate headquarters, Lincoln Yards, and the Indianapolis Pacers training facility, in its portfolio.
