Established in 2018, The Quarry is a shared space for arts, business, culture, events and entertainment. The venue’s goal is to be the hub around which South Shore gathers to experience itself as a positive, safe, powerful, resource-rich, connected, community, worthy of living and staying in Chicago.

The Quarry is a Neighborhood Opportunity Fund (NOF) awardee. SomerCor is proud to administer this program on behalf of the City of Chicago. NOF grant funds were used for facade renovations, roofing work, parking lot repairs, masonry and window replacement, electrical and HVAC.

The COVID-19 crisis interrupted regular operations at the Quarry, but organization leadership remains focused on supporting the South Shore community. The venue joined forces with the Greater Chicago Food Depository, to host a pop-up food pantry.  As highlighted in Block Club Chicago:

Each household will also receive five protective masks, and temperature checks will be offered on-site.

Friday’s food boxes are first-come, first-served. They include tips for staying safe during the pandemic and a recipe for a nutritious dish.

The pop-up pantry is scheduled to operate for the next five Fridays from 11am to 1pm. Learn more about supporting the Greater Chicago Food Depository and their important work during the COVID-19 crisis here.
